My goal is to help make the world a more peaceful and diverse place. I think this is a reasonable goal.
The world would be more peaceful if fewer people were forced to do things they don’t want to do.
And it would be more diverse if more people had the right to freely express their opinions.
From the perspective of some of my peers, my vision for peace makes me anti-progressive. And my vision for diversity makes me part of an oppressive system. Which is odd, since my black girlfriend doesn’t find me oppressive (though she scares the shit out of me).
But think about these two propositions for a second: 1) Limited government is anti-progress, and 2) Freedom is oppressive.
Where do you think we’ll be in 50 years if we cling to these premises? It won’t matter if you’re black, white, or a turquoise crossdressing trans lesbian – you’ll be living in a totalitarian dictatorship. (And I’ll be living in Malta. Property taxes are lower, and the women are beautiful. Don’t tell my girlfriend.)
I’ve been writing maniacally ever since a professor at a once-respectable college discriminated against my Milton Friedman footnote. But the recurring national orgy of moaning, crying wolf, and randomly flipping the bird – the mass liberal psychosis gripping college campuses – has compelled me to claim some safe space for people who haven’t lost their minds.
Never mind, safe spaces are for babies. We live in the golden age of social justice, in which people cry when a female celebrity says she prefers “manly” men.
We have cold, hard logic on our side. Our opponents only have social constructs of their own creation, which is why they can’t stand free speech.
We can make jokes, while they can’t form a sentence without apologizing to someone who might be offended, unless that person is a conservative or a libertarian.
In the 1960s, the right was prudish and the left was uninhibited. Today, the right is more open-minded than the left ever was.
The war for free speech used to belong to the left, which cheered as “artists” dipped crucifixes in buckets of piss. Now the war for free speech is being waged from the right, which cheers as people utter factual statements that are as reasonable as they are taboo.
Newsflash: We’re at war with radical Muslims.
Be reasonable or be offended.
